1001 Afternoons in Chicago is an experimental documentary, combining the talents of Chicago’s musical, theatrical, and visual artists into a truly unique vision. Based on Ben Hecht's short stories from the 1920s, the film tells of newpapermen prowling the streets, chance  encounters in bars, con men and cops, dreams and death. Looming over it all is the terrible beauty of the city.
